What is e-Assessment?
e-Assessment is the use of computers and computer software to evaluate skills and knowledge in specific situations. It can range from on screen testing systems that automatically mark learners' tests (often providing almost instant feedback), to electronic portfolios where learners' work can be stored and marked.
Both e-Assessment and e-Portfolios are becoming a fundamental part of modern education, and IBSL has now introduced some e-Assessments in its qualifications, mainly at Level 6.
e-Assessments will gradually be introduced into other qualifications over the next few years.
e-Portfolios
iBSL uses a coursework file system instead of a portfolio system, at Levels 2-6 and with Bilingual Skills, and current IT technology is available for this coursework file system to be used to store digital files, and store them in i-Clouds or in Dropboxes. iBSL encourages the use of these systems.
